We have more inventory than in years gone by - more for you to choose from. The result is that we have a handful of vacation rentals still available for Jazz in the Pines and both inn rooms and vacation rentals available for Labor Day.

The benefit to you is that we've reduced the price on the few cabins that are left for Jazz in the Pines and there is only a two-night minimum.

We've also reduce the minimum stay requirements for Labor Day from three night to two night.

AT 7:00 a.m. this morning the temperature outside was 50 degrees - practically fall-like! We've had one of the most pleasant summers in years with temps in the low 80s during the day and the 50s at night. Mosquitos have been rare. Overall it's been a delightful summer.

We've taken on some gorgeous new vacation rentals:

• Lily Pad is an upscale 2 bedroom cabin sitting on over 3 acres. For parties up to 6 there is also a detached guest studio above the garage. The base rate for two guests is $245/night.
• Winston's Retreat is a large 2 bedroom plus loft plus den plus lower level 2 bedroom guest apartment. Winston's Retreat has views in all directions, can sleep up to 11 and boasts a spacious living/dining/kitchen area with pool table and wrap around deck. The base rate for the main house is $195/night.
• Pinecone Trail used to be an adjunct cabin to the inn. It's sits right behind the inn on Four Chimneys. It's a log cabin style with three bedrooms and the rate is $150/night.
• Quail Crossing is in a wonderful neighborhood on the south facing side of the South Ridge. It has 2 bedrooms and a den but also has wonderful outdoor spaces for entertainment and leisure. The style of the cabin is vintage contemporary and the decor is modern with lots of color and original art. There are nice through-the-trees views and the nightly rate is $165.

Because the 4th fell on a Friday this year and most folks are off work that day we had a three-night minimum requirement. As of today, Saturday, 6/28/08, we are waiving the three-night minimum and going back to our standard two-night minimum for last minute bookings of what's left for this holiday weekend. We have several vacation rentals available, a creek view suite for Friday/Saturday night and a few inn rooms for Saturday only.

The weather's been gorgeous so far this summer - highs in the 80s (82 today) and lows around 50 (in the high 40s earlier this week). Everything is lush and green and the creek is flowing. Come on up! You'll be glad you did.

Get out of the heat this Memorial Day weekend! We're having delightful weather in the low 80's and to further entice you we've reduced our holiday rates back to standard weekend rates (with a 10% discount for a third night) and from a three-night to a two-night minimum for those vacation rentals that are still available.

We've taken on a few new listings recently that broaden our selection of Vacation Rentals.

On the "mountain luxury" side we now represent Eagles Nest and Mountain View Log Cabin. Both are gorgeous log cabin homes and are each priced at $240/night, weekends, double occupancy.

On the economy side we now offer Lily Cottage, a cute one bedroom cabin in Fern Valley in a quiet location with views of Lily Rock and peak-a-boo views of Marion Ridge. Lily Cottage is priced at $130/night, weekends, double occupancy. A couple owners have also made their cabins a great value with price reductions. Crestview Corner is now $145/night and Starlight Sanctuary is now $149/night, which for a two bedroom cabin with rock fireplace on one-third of an acre is a terrific value.

We've also broken out some sub-folders in our Photo Gallery. There's a sub folder for properties sorted by amenity (spa, pet, WiFi, creekside & view), price and number of bedrooms so it's easier to go directly to the category in which you are interested and then back to the larger alphabetical list for more photos and a descritpion.

I opened the wooden blinds to my bathroom this morning to see our residence meadow populated with Stellars Jays and a covey of quail enjoying the bird seed we throw out for them. The birds are back and the nesting is beginning; soon we'll have long strings of baby quail dutifully following their parents through the meadows and down by the creek.

It's true that most of the snow is gone but it's been known to snow through parts of May, but pretty soon all thoughts of a cold, white ground cover will be replaced with images of the creek flanked by lush green plants of all varieties. Spring in the mountains is magical.
