It is with gratitude that I comment on what a thrilling experience we had attending the Idyllwild Arts Academy’s Spring Dance Concert last night. Given that it was Wednesday night, the first night of three public performances and the audience was mostly Academy students, the atmosphere was electric.
We are proud members of the Associates of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation and never more so than when we attend student art shows and performances. The Academy is one of our communities premier resources. I am always in awe of the talent and training evidenced by the students. Last night the dance was choreographed by the Dance Department faculty and danced by the students. I was blown away (again)! I particularly like the modern pieces but was even impressed by the ballet, one of which was choreographed to Frank Sinatra duets – a clever and entertaining concept. The modern dance, Heroes Behind Shadows, was stunning and Evolution, which followed, elicited an equally loud applause and foot stomping (the sound of an orchestra applauding the conductor).
If the opportunity arises to attend a student performance at the Academy don’t miss the chance… and they’re FREE!
