We rented a stand alone cabin “The Twin Tree Lower Cottage”. It was a little unit right on the creek we could hear from inside the unit. It consisted of a living room/kitchen, a bath in the middle (only shower), and a good size bedroom for a small cabin. The cabin was spotless and in good condition. Everything was thought of for the perfect weekend for two. The property was quiet and we barely ever saw any of the nearby residents, however we were able to walk 300 yards and be in the middle of town.
Jim our host was awesome, and gave us the scoop on things to see, places to go, and where to eat. The unit had built in heating and a huge wonderful fireplace, with even a portable heater in the bedroom for those extra cold nights. We very rarely go anyplace twice but we both agreed we’ll have to come back and do this again. Perfect down time in a perfect setting.

My husband and I rented the “Artist’s Cottage” for a last minute, spontaneous Labor Day weekend motorcycle trip. I did a google search of inn/cabin rentals in Idyllwild and Quiet Creek Inn came up. There were no accommodations left at the Inn proper (which looks very charming, by the way, and is undoubtedly worth a visit itself), but there were several vacation homes available on the website at very reasonable rates. When I called to inquire, Jim the innkeeper suggested I take a look at the web photos and choose the one that most suited us. We picked up the key at the Inn, were given a packet of excellent local info (maps, what to do, where to eat, etc.) and given clear directions to our rental.
When we got there, we were absolutely charmed! A vintage little fairy tale cottage with a stone walled, wood shingled exterior, just like the picture. Small, cozy, tasteful (not over the top) country interior with an enormous native stone fireplace (which we didn’t use in the summer heat but would be lovely in the winter). The compact kitchen was fully equipped with everything necessary to make and serve complete meals (even an air popcorn popper and crockpot in the cupboard). We walked to the local market, bought groceries and prepared all our meals, and dined alfresco on the lovely little patio in the front. The cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway for two, or for a single person wanting a lovely, quiet work or meditative space with wonderful vintage charm. And the innkeeper, Jim, is super helpful. We left an item in the cottage, contacted him when we got back home, and he retrieved it and sent it back immediately. Great customer service from beginning to end.
Idyllwild is a lovely town. We enjoyed the great shops, hiked some great trails in the San Jacinto Wilderness, and well, the Palms-to-Pines Hwy is some of the greatest motorcycling anywhere. Thanks to Quiet Creek Inn, it was made even more memorable.

My partner and I had a lovely anniversary weekend in Idyllwild at the Quiet Creek Inn. We had a King Suite: the king bed was in a separate bedroom, the living room had a fireplace and mini kitchen set up, and the balcony was private with great views of the various critters that scamper around the pines. We especially appreciated that the suite was very clean, cozy, comfortable, and tastefully decorated (not my style, but the plaid, cabin-y feel is appropriate).
Jim and Mike are expert proprietors. They offer beverages and games in the barn, two fire logs per day, wine in the living room, use of the gym in town, use of their state parks adventure pass, etc. Generous details like those made us feel well taken care of. Jim and Mike also have a wealth of information about hiking, eating, shopping, and sight-seeing: their knowledge made our trip extra special.

Hi Jim and Mike,
Many thanks to you both for helping us enjoy a fabulous weekend in Idyllwild. You made it very easy for me to coordinate events for 14 people, with your flexibility on room cleaning and suggestions for places to eat, among other kindnesses. We all appreciated your providing the lovely deck for us to have lunch and the wonderful, warm, art-filled environment for our wine and cheese party. The entire group was very impressed with the Inn and we do plan to return in another year.
I will write a recommendation for Trip Advisor.
All best, Kay
